Dear Students,

We’re excited to inform you that, as part of Fiji National University’s ongoing commitment to improve security and simplify access to digital services, the following new features are being introduced for all student accounts:

What’s Being Implemented

1. Single Sign-On (SSO)
You will use only one login credential (computer login account) to access:

1.      Student email (Gmail)

2.      Moodle

3.      Banner Self-Service

4.   Microsoft 365, where you can download the Office application and install it on your personal computers.

2. Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)
You will be able to reset or change your FNU password at any time, without needing to contact the IT Service Desk. You can select the Forgot password option to reset as well.

3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
It is a security method that requires users to provide more than one form of identification instead of just a password to access an account or application. MFA makes it harder for unauthorized users to gain access.

What You Need to Do

1. Familiarise and start with Single Sign-On

Use your computer login username and password to access:

1.      Gmail: https://mail.google.com

2.      Microsoft 365: https://www.office.com

3.      Moodle: https://elearn.fnu.ac.fj

4.      Banner: https://self-service.fnu.ac.fj/StudentSelfService

📌 Note: When signing in to the FNU student email account (Gmail), the sign-in process will redirect to the Microsoft login page for authentication and will revert to Gmail.

2. Set up your account for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)

When you visit Microsoft 365 https://www.office.com, you will be prompted to register for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). You can either set up the Microsoft Authenticator app or select alternative options. The user guide will help you to register:

Optional - Test the Self-Service Password Reset feature
Visit: https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
Use your registered options above to change your password securely.

From Monday, 13th October 2025, the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be enabled.
It will add an extra layer of protection when accessing Microsoft 365 www.office.com and Gmail https://mail.google.com, increasing the security of your account. You will be required to use your mobile to authenticate your login as a 2nd factor.
