This subject is designed to develop basic professional behaviors and attitudes that enrolled nurses should possess as a member of the Nursing profession. Professional attributes of honesty, integrity, kindness and compassion to name a few are sought to enhance the attitude of the enrolled nurse. It is aimed to provide students with a vast knowledge of communication skills so they can effectively relate to their clients in the different situations they encounter. The course is therefore designed to enable the students to believe that the natural tool of communication is a powerful tool to use and it can make a difference in a client’s life.
The course is covered in one (1) semester and has eight (8) themes. The themes are: Historical Overview, Nursing as a Profession; The Nursing Process; The Health Care Delivery System; The Communication Process; Basic Written & Oral Presentation Skills; Communications Across the Lifespan and Man, Culture and Spirituality in Nursing
